Hello to my readers. I know that all of you would like to learn about Bahasa Negeri, so there we are learning about the unique language. Minangkabau or Baso minang is an Austronesia language spoken by the Minangkabau of West Sumatra. The language is also a lingua franca along the western coaster region of the province of North Sumatra, and even used in part of Acheh. It is also spoken in some parts of Malaysia, especially Negeri Sembilan. Due to the grammatical similarities between the Minagkabau language and Malay, there is some rumors and controversy regarding this matter.

Traditional Food of Negeri Sembilan

 Traditional ‘Kuih-muih’

Kuih Apam Johol

Kuih Koci
Hi, everyone. Welcome back in discovering the uniqueness of Negeri Sembilan. In this entry, we will discussing about the traditional kuih of Negeri Sembilan. Negeri Sembilan has its own kuih that has the delicious and sweet taste. Among it are Kuih Apam Johol, Kuih Koci, Kuih Sopang and many more but I will only focus on this three since it is my favorite. My late mother always made us Kuih Sopang that made by glutinous rice flour, melaka sugar and filling by the grated coconut. Younger nowadays may not know this kuih but it is still fresh in my mind the taste. Kuih Apam Johol is quite different from the common apam since it is wrapped by Rambai leaves that contributed to the sweetness. Even though you can get it outside Negeri Sembilan, the taste will not be the same when you try it from the original state.

 Traditional Dishes

When we talked about food or dishes in this state, people will imagine spicy and hot dishes. But, that is so true. Negeri people loves to eat spicy yet delicious dished such as Masak Lemak Cili Api, Rendang and more. They use a lot of coconut milk and chilli in their cooking. Methods of cooking like Masak Lemak Cili Api and rendang are typical Minang style cuisine and cooked with chilli and coconut milk.

Masak Lemak Cili Api
This is one of my favorite dish as a Negerian. It is one of the signature dishes of the Minang cuisines. you can cooked it with chicken, jackfruit, seafood, vegetables, eggs, fish and anything that suitable.

Rendang Daun Puding Hitam
Rendang is another signature dish of Negeri Sembilan. We has many types of Rendang. Rendang cooked in typical Minang style does not use spices but with aromatics like ginger, galangal, lemongrass and of course lots of coconut. Beef rendang and chicken rendang are too common, but in Negeri Sembilan, almost everything can be made into rendang such as ferns and shoots of plants that is normally not use in other cuisine.

It is currently still holds the record as the country's largest shopping wholesale centre even though thre are some areas try to establish the same concept but it is not so easy. Hard work from the management and state government linkage is important and they had done a good job after all.
